Request for pre-movement bluetongue virus sampling

A licence must have already been applied for, from APHA, prior to making any request for sampling. Only animals that meet the criteria below should be sampled:

  • Entire males intended for use in breeding
  • Pregnant females (or pregnancy status unknown)
  • Youngstock if they were born less than 60 days before the movement, unless they are travelling at foot with the maternal dam – in this case, you can test the maternal dam instead

If you intend to move any animals that fall into any of the groups above, you must make a request for sampling by completing the form below.

Once your request for sampling has been submitted, your preferred practice will be notified but sampling cannot be carried out until approved by APHA. Farmcare will communicate the approval to your veterinary practice.

Please note, capacity for sampling on any given day is limited therefore please contact your practice at the earliest opportunity to arrange a provisional date (subject to approval before sampling can take place).

Please provide all details requested.
